| This awesome brick structure that overlooks the confluence of the three rivers was built at a cost of 25 million rupees and took over 45 years to complete. Built by Akbar in 1583, it has three huge gateways flanked by magnificent towers. Within its walls are an Ashokan Pillar. Of Mughal architecture there is only one specimen in the Fort - a pillared hall with remnant patches of design to give
an idea of the exquisite paintings that must have once decorated
the walls and ceiling. There is also some evidence of secret, underground passages which were believed to have been used by Akabr's wife Jodhabai to visit the temple within the fort.
